Nero D’Avola is the most important indigenous red vine variety in Sicily. It is thought to have been selected by growers of the island during the times of Greek colonisation but it might have spread as early as during Tertiary period, as evidenced by some discoveries at the foot of Etna.
Our Nero d’Avola is cherry in colour with violet highlights. It features elegant fruity aroma, strongly reminiscent of plum, morello cherry with slight liquorice and chocolate notes. Flavour: full-bodied, slightly acid and spicy.
Savoury red meats, perfect with seasoned cheese as the Ragusano Dop.
